Celebrate Well by Being Well Now

Have you noticed how lighting candles invites a sense of presence? There is something magical about that flickering light softly glowing that draws us in. Maybe because it fills our senses with sight, sound, and smell. Maybe because of the quiet way it connects us to our resilience. The flame of a candle is fragile, yet it is strong enough to provide light when making your way through a dark room.

This balance of light and dark, fragility and strength, reflects what we all know about life. When we are present to the full range of life, not just the "positive" or the "negative", we connect to ourselves and others with more authenticity, trust and kindness.

This article describes how candles are used in celebrations across many cultures. It reflects our Core Needs as humans for meaning and connection. The simple act of lighting candles supports our connection to what we know inside about what gives life meaning, and to others through shared experiences and emotions.

Today, especially if you are feeling a bit frazzled, take a moment to shift from stress to well. You might bring your attention to your body and heart by feeling your Spacious Breath, resting your attention there as you light a candle. Pause to savor whole-person presence. Allow the sight, sound, smell, and intention behind this small act to keep you connected to what you know inside as your guide to Be Well Now.

Enjoy Celebrating Well today.
