What do you do if you hate weight lifting but know you need it to preserve muscle mass, metabolism, and bone strength, balance as you lose weight and age?
I used to hate weight lifting. Knowing I "should" do it, especially as I age, made that disdain even stronger!
I changed to whole-person strength and now I love what these weights do for my brain, body, and heart.
What is Whole-person Strength?
Whole person strength is an investment in energy that has a huge ROI!
✅ Brain: My thoughts no longer resist resistance training. Now it's a time for my brain to restore confidence in my body and to reconnect to what I value in my heart. Presence and doing this as an act of kindness is the key that changes everything. Rather than just lifting weights, you are rewiring wholeness.
✅ Body: No matter the state of my body, even when I have an injury or didn't sleep well, meeting my body where it is today and investing energy in keeping muscle memory for moving strongly promotes whole-person healing. This takes remembering that strength is not about how much you can lift, it's about the brain-body connection that tells your body how to move with less strain and more strength
✅ Heart: The intentional movements that mimic the movements I need and want to do in my daily life connect with what I value. These are not meaningless muscles; I'm moving them individually to make them stronger; my whole person is coordinating to do movements that represent what I care about most in life. That intentional movement reminds me of my strengths and values, so I move on centered and grounded.
